JobfitMatters Executive Search, together with the Heritage Christian Academy Board of Directors, is pleased to share the announcement of Dr. Benjamin (“Ben”) Hummel’s appointment as Head of School. Hummel joins HCA (Olathe, Kansas) from Statesville Christian School where he served as Head of School for the past three years. He is deeply passionate about Christian education and is excited to partner with HCA in the shared vision “to see the world profoundly impacted by the gospel of Jesus Christ through generations of Heritage graduates.”
Hummel began his career as an educator and coach in two public schools in the Chicago suburbs. Following his ten-year tenure with the Chicago school system, he served as Secondary Principal and IB Coordinator with the International School of Vienna (Austria) for five years. Returning Stateside, Hummel led Statesville Christian School in achieving significant growth in enrollment, campus facilities, and academic excellence.
Hummel was selected from an exceptional pool of candidates in a nationwide search conducted by Laura Coverstone and Ed Poff of JobfitMatters and the HCA Search Committee. With a heart for service, Hummel’s deep Christian faith, biblical worldview, missional mindset, and leadership abilities distinguished him as a candidate uniquely equipped to lead HCA. The HCA Board of Directors voted unanimously to invite Hummel to become HCA’s next Head of School. Search Committee Chair Patrick Berch commented: “Ed Poff and Laura Coverstone are exceptional. Hummel has earned a Doctor of Education (Bethel University, MN), Master of Arts in School Improvement Leadership (Olivet Nazarene University, IL), and Master of Arts in Teaching (National-Louis University, IL). Hummel and his wife, Sarah, have been married 18 years and are the parents of two children.
