Central Union Mission, one of the Washington, DC region’s most established faith-based social service organizations, is seeking an experienced executive to serve as its next Chief Operating Officer. Founded in 1884 and rooted firmly in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Mission serves men, women, children, and families experiencing homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction, and other significant challenges throughout Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. The COO will serve as a trusted strategic partner and second-in-command to the President and CEO, providing executive leadership for the operational functions that enable the Mission’s ministries to flourish.
The successful candidate will bring at least ten years of operations leadership experience, strong strategic judgment, and demonstrated ability to lead people, strengthen systems, manage complex facilities and infrastructure, and solve problems effectively. The role oversees facilities and capital projects, food service, technology, fleet management, safety and security, vendors, legal matters, organizational risk, and administrative systems. Most importantly, this leader will bring a mature Christian faith, humility, relational wisdom, and a commitment to servant leadership. The COO will reside within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
