JobfitMatters is pleased to announce that Steve Imperato was commissioned as the Mission Training International’s next President on May 8, 2025.
Steve brings a unique blend of seasoned leadership, missional passion, and personal experience in cross-cultural ministry. With decades of senior leadership experience in the business world, Steve also offers strong organizational acumen and strategic vision. After leading large teams and overseeing $350M in sales for Target and L.L. Bean, Steve and his wife, Jill, were called into full-time ministry, serving as missionaries to orphans in Zambia.
Prior to their departure, they attended MTI’s “Compass” pre-field training, which proved pivotal in Steve’s development of a passion for missionary care. After returning to the U.S., they participated in MTI’s debriefing program (DAR), which further connected them to MTI’s mission.
Not long after, MTI invited Steve to join the organization as Chief Operating Officer. Over the past year, while the presidential search was underway, he has faithfully led the leadership team, focusing on strengthening the organizational culture, refining strategy, and casting a clear vision for MTI’s future.
“As President,” says MTI board chair Faith De La Cour, “we believe Steve will provide visionary leadership in strategic planning, missionary care, and fundraising to expand MTI’s impact. His heart for equipping gospel messengers and his personal experience in global ministry uniquely qualify him to lead MTI into its next chapter.”
The board of MTI is grateful for JobfitMatters’ guidance and services throughout this nationwide search. Imperato shared, “It is a joy and honor to step into the role of President at Mission Training International. I am deeply grateful for MTI’s faithful partnership in equipping and encouraging global workers. Together, we will continue to prepare hearts and hands for God’s mission around the world.”
