Westminster Christian Academy Appoints Dr. Thomas Stoner Head of School

DrTomStonerlogo-WestminsterCASIMA is pleased to announce that Dr. Tom Stoner has accepted the call to become the next head of school at Westminster Christian Academy beginning in the 2013-14 school year.

Born and raised in Wheaton, Illinois, Tom received an undergraduate degree from Wheaton College and a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. While serving in his current role as head of school at Covenant Christian Academy in the Boston area, he earned a Doctor of Education degree from Boston University. Now in his 16th year at Covenant, Tom was instrumental in the early years of the school as both a teacher and administrator. During his tenure, Covenant has grown its enrollment, added grades 9 through 12, and relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility, all in accordance with the school’s strategic plan and through reliance on God in a challenging market for Christian education.

Laura Coverstone and Ed Poff of SIMA assisted the Westminster Search Committee with this process. Mike Stanfill, member of the search committee and president-elect of the Board of Directors, commented, “I’m excited to stand with Tom Stoner as he becomes our first new head of school in 28 years. I believe our community will quickly appreciate how his commitment to Christian education and his alignment with Westminster’s mission have prepared him for this role.”

Current Westminster Head of School Jim Marsh shared: “Tom Stoner is a proven Christian education leader with exceptional experience, personal qualities, and commitment to high-quality Christian education. He is well prepared and highly motivated to lead Westminster into the future. I believe Tom is God’s man ‘for such a time as this.’”

Tom and his wife Carrie have been married for 20 years and have four children, Lauren (14), Emily (12), David (10), and Jonathan (7).
