Why Did We Hire This Person: Part 6

Part 6 of our series with Ben Dilla and Ron Evans is short and sweet but an important reminder when it comes to selecting and working with an executive recruiter.

“We took the word of a recruiter that this was the most qualified candidate, but now we know we should have asked more questions.”

Most recruiters interview to ensure candidates meet your minimum qualifications and strive to get as many as possible for your consideration. While they may have impressions about who is the “best” candidate, in most cases they aren’t going to know the organization and job requirements as well as you do.

Comment: Work closely with recruiters to ensure they know as much as possible about the organization and what you are looking for. They should be asking you for, or assisting in developing, critical job requirements in terms of attributes, behaviors, and experience needed in a strong candidate.
