Free Wheelchair Mission has given away over 760,000 wheelchairs to needy people around the world through its distribution partners over the last 13 years. Founder, Don Schoendorfer, an MIT PhD and the chief engineer, is a brilliant mechanical designer and a humble catalyst who has inspired the mission of transforming lives with the gift of mobility for only $77.91 per chair. Don is currently working on the ‘Gen 3’ iteration of the wheelchair, which is a folding model. He is a beloved asset to the organization, remaining intimately involved as the heart, soul and brains behind the mission.
The Board is united around the aggressive growth and expansion plans. There is much anticipation and excitement in the organization for this new phase of impact. Revenues are up 19% in the last 10 months. The person will grow and expand the existing base of major donors in the Houston, TX area who are committed to support FWC’s mission.
