Central Christian School Appoints John Murray Head of School

John MurrayJohn MurrayJobfitMatters is pleased to announce John A. Murray’s appointment as the next Head of School of Central Christian School in St. Louis, Missouri. The search committee’s selection of Murray, along with the Board’s approval, were unanimous.

Murray is a leader in academia with significant experience in teaching and administration. He is a thought-leader in regard to equipping children and parents to impact modern culture. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University (1990) and a Master’s degree from Dartmouth College (1995).

Since 2008, Murray has served as Headmaster of The Fourth Presbyterian School in Potomac, Maryland. He has also served as the Head of School at Santa Fe Christian Schools (Solana Beach, California) and St. David’s School (Raleigh, North Carolina). He brings a deep knowledge about children, best practices in education, and a passion for Christ and influencing our generation.

Murray has extensive experience in impacting the broader public through film-making, writing and speaking. His documentary, Think About It: Understanding the Impact of TV-Movie Violence was nationally distributed by numerous organizations, including Focus on the Family and the American Association of Educators, for over a decade. His articles addressing education, history, politics, media and youth culture have appeared in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Laura Coverstone and Ed Poff  of JobfitMatters assisted Central Christian School with this search. Upon accepting the position, Murray said, “It is with great excitement that I accept the Board of Directors’ call to serve as Central Christian’s next Head of School. John and his wife, Barbara, have four children: Andrew (16), Mary Stuart (14), Kingsley (13), and Sarah Cate (10). We are excited to welcome them to the Central Christian School family.

Murray will join Central Christian School in the summer of 2014.
